Wikipedia Article Of The Day
Wikipedia-Article Of The Day Teresa Sampsonia. Teresa Sampsonia (1589–1668) was a noblewoman of the Safavid Empire of Iran. She was born into a noble Orthodox Christian Circassian family and grew up in Isfahan in the Iranian royal court. In 1608 she married the Elizabethan English adventurer Robert Shirley, who attended the Safavid court in an effort to forge an alliance against the neighbouring Ottoman Empire. She accompanied him on the Persian embassy to Europe (1609–15), where he represented the Safavid king Abbas the Great. She was received by many of the royal houses of Europe, including the English prince Henry Frederick and Queen Anne, who were her son's godparents. The historian Thomas Herbert considered Robert Shirley "the greatest Traveller of his time", but admired the "undaunted Lady Teresa" even more. Following the death of her husband from dysentery in 1628, she left Iran and lived in a convent in Rome for the rest of her life. http://thex-buzz.blogspot.com/2019/04/wikipedia-article-of-day_39.html April 29, 2019 at 12:32PM
Wikipedia Article Of The Day
Wikipedia-Article Of The Day Benty Grange helmet. The Benty Grange helmet is a boar-crested Anglo-Saxon helmet from the 7th century. It was excavated by Thomas Bateman in 1848 from a burial mound at the Benty Grange farm in Monyash in western Derbyshire. The grave had probably been looted by the time of Bateman's excavation, but still contained other high-status objects suggestive of a richly furnished burial, such as the fragmentary remains of a hanging bowl. The ornate helmet was constructed by covering the outside of an iron framework with plates of horn and the inside with cloth or leather, now decayed. It would have provided some protection against weapons, but may have also been intended for ceremonial use. It was the first Anglo-Saxon helmet to be discovered; others have been found at Sutton Hoo, York, Wollaston, Shorwell, and Staffordshire. The helmet is displayed at Sheffield's Weston Park Museum, which purchased it from Bateman's estate in 1893. http://thex-buzz.blogspot.com/2019/04/wikipedia-article-of-day_4.html April 29, 2019 at 12:32PM
Wikipedia Article Of The Day
Wikipedia-Article Of The Day Alodia. Alodia was a medieval Nubian kingdom in what is now central and southern Sudan. Its capital was Soba, near modern-day Khartoum at the confluence of the Blue and White Nile rivers. In 580 it became a part of the Christian world, following the other two Nubian kingdoms, Nobadia and Makuria. Alodia reached its peak during the 9th–12th centuries, when it exceeded its northern neighbor and close ally, Makuria, in size, military power and economic prosperity. A large, multicultural state, Alodia was ruled by a powerful king and provincial governors appointed by him. Soba was a prosperous town and trading hub, and literacy in Nubian and Greek flourished. Goods arrived from Makuria, the Middle East, western Africa, India and even China. Alodia began a slow decline in the 12th century, possibly because of invasions from the south, droughts and a shift of trade routes, before finally collapsing around 1500. http://thex-buzz.blogspot.com/2019/04/wikipedia-article-of-day_16.html April 29, 2019 at 12:32PM Cheap Now TV offer for Game of Thrones lets you watch all 73 episodes without a pricy contract29/4/2019

August pausing sales of its View doorbell over Wi-Fi problems
Bad news if you were planning to pick up an August View Doorbell Camera in the near future – the product has been pulled from the virtual and physical shelves while the manufacturer investigates Wi-Fi connectivity problems. "We are aware of some performance challenges in specific user environments," says August. We did in fact note some connection issues in our own hands-on review. "In order to fully evaluate the user feedback, implement critical improvements, run further testing, and keep our commitment to you, we are pausing shipping of the August View," adds the official statement.
The device will return at an unspecified date, August is promising, so watch this space for a relaunch once the problems have been fixed. Get your money backThe August View has only been on sale for a few weeks. If you've already picked one up, you can return it to the place you bought it for a full refund. Alternatively you can keep the doorbell and get a full refund if you're prepared to give August some help in troubleshooting the connectivity problem and getting it fixed – follow the link here for details. With decent competition from the likes of Nest and Ring, August is going to be hoping the issue gets resolved sooner rather than later, so the device can be put back on sale. "When you purchase an August product, you trust us with the most important parts of your life: your home and your family," says the company. "We value your trust greatly and it is our top priority."

Latest iPhone 11 leak says the next iPhone XR is getting a camera bump
There's now no shortage of leaks and rumors around the upcoming iPhone 11 phones, and we just got another tidbit of information to chew over: the successor to the iPhone XR is apparently getting a dual-lens rear camera this year. That's according to Japanese blog Mac Otakara, which says it has its information directly from those in the know in the supply chain in China. The iPhone XR 2 – or iPhone XI R? – is going to come with a wide angle lens and a telephoto lens just like the current iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, the report says, which should mean a better portrait mode and 2x optical zoom will be on offer.
It's actually a rumor we've heard before, so you can count this as a conformation of sorts for what Apple is planning. The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max, meanwhile, will get upgrades to triple-lens rear cameras. Glass and portsAccording to Mac Otakara, two out of the three lenses on the more expensive iPhones of 2019 will also be shared with the new iPhone XR model, which should help to keep manufacturing costs down. All three iPhone 2019 models are being tipped to use 3D-molded glass for the back of the phones, possibly covering up the rear camera bump, the new report says. There's also a prediction that Apple could include more powerful 18W USB-C chargers with its iPhone models this year – although the Lightning port will be retained, and Apple will bundle USB-C-to-Lightning connectors with the devices. Add it to the pile of iPhone 11 rumors we've heard so far, covering everything from air sensors to bigger batteries. As usual, the new handsets are expected to be officially unveiled in September. Dubai-based ASA Ventures considers itself a VC 2.0
In May 2019, Dubai-based venture capital firm ASA Ventures is starting a 12-week start-up booster programme called RevUp to give a helping hand to startups. Venture capital (VC) is a financial lifeline for startups to keep them afloat as it goes through the requisite stages in its life cycle- especially at early stages when the company doesn’t have many customers or clients. VCs usually choose startups according to a specific stage or sector, depending on their investment mandate. It goes without saying that a percentage of the equity goes to the VC, and in a perfect world, where every startup wins, so does the VC. Danish Rizvi, Chief Operating Officer at ASA Ventures, told TechRadar Middle East that the days of the traditional VCs are over where funding is the only thing that an entrepreneur needs and will spell the difference between failure and success. Say hello to VC 2.0With the digital revolution, Rizvi says that entrepreneurs need someone other than themselves working on aspects of the business that they cannot single-handedly run during early stages. “We add value to the start-up landscape and aim to change the current perception of VCs from being just a financial lifeline to VC 2.0.” He said that VC2.0 means providing start-ups with non-financial support and giving entrepreneurs access to the resources they wouldn’t otherwise have at such an early stage- all while adding real value to them. ASA has about 200 people to provide support for start-ups in sales, marketing, technology development, etc. “Our target is to make the start-up profitable in three months. During these three months, we provide all the resources. It is a target for us as well as for the startups. Apart from that, we train them on fundraising and put them in different expos to showcase them,” he said. If liquidity is needed, ASA can pump between $20,000 and $2 million with equity stake between five and eighty-five percent. More and more startups in Dubai need support beyond funding to become successful, he said, and thus ASA Ventures becomes the co-founder that will work to make sure the startup comes out on top. “We become equity partners and we don’t charge commissions. If it is good or bad, we share it equally. As we are investing our money, we want to make sure that what the start-up is doing is good at the end of the day and that is the model we have created,” he said. ASA Ventures was started in Portugal in 2003 and moved to Dubai in 2013. The VC’s target is five startups every three months. It has operations in Portugal, Saudi Arabia, UK, Mauritius, India and Pakistan and aims to spread wings into Malaysia, Singapore and Oman. from TechRadar - All the latest technology news http://www.techradar.com/news/dubai-based-asa-ventures-considers-itself-a-vc-20 http://thex-buzz.blogspot.com/2019/04/dubai-based-asa-ventures-considers.html April 29, 2019 at 12:32PM

Reliance Jio effect: Hathway offering complimentary Play Box Android TV dongle with select broadband plans
Reliance Jio played an important role in fixing the affordability factor of data plans in the Indian telecom space, and after buying stakes in major broadband service providers, the company had sounded the bugle of its entry into this space. Keeping in mind the competitive pricing that Jio's fiber to the home broadband service is expected to bring, internet service providers have already started rolling out offers to increase their subscriber base. Hathway Broadband and Cable is now offering a complimentary Play Box Android streaming device to those who opt for 100 Mbps or above broadband data plans. Telecom Talk reports that those who subscribe to a 100 Mbps plan or above, for two months or more, will get a Hathway Play Box - an Android TV based OTT box, as well as Ultra Smart Hub that combines linear TV with Android TV. The telecom news platform says that the offer is running in Hyderabad and Chennai, where the company offers four fiber-based plans providing 100 Mbps to 300 Mbps speeds. These plans start from Rs 949 per month. Subscribers can buy a plan of a minimum of Rs 2,847 that will give them 100 Mbps speed for three months and 1TB FUP monthly limit. Those who want higher speeds, can opt for other costlier plans. Further, Hathway is providing attractive offers with its Play Box Android TV STB, such as Rs 1,000 off in total on Netflix subscription for two months. Additionally, users will get 12 months of free Sun NXT subscription, and two months of complimentary YUPP TV and ZEE5 subscription. Hathway launched the Play Box in October last year. Along with support for upto Full HD 1080p playback, the device comes with a remote that has dedicated buttons on it for popular services like YouTube, Netflix and Google Play, allowing consumers to directly install apps from Google Play as well. Priced at Rs 2,999, the box also supports Google Assistant and comes with a voice functionality on the remote - like the Amazon FireStick remote. What’s noteworthy is that Reliance Industries Limited acquired 51.34 percent shares in Hathway and 58.92 percent stake in Den Networks last year. from Latest Technology News https://www.digit.in/internet/reliance-jio-effect-hathway-offering-complimentary-play-box-android-tv-dongle-with-select-broadband-47742.html http://thex-buzz.blogspot.com/2019/04/reliance-jio-effect-hathway-offering.html April 29, 2019 at 12:31PM |
